History
The Global Federation of Chinese Business Women of Chicago Chapter, a well-known organization, has been around for quite some time. However, women in Chicago were initially more reserved and hesitant to step into the public eye. It wasn’t until former Overseas Chinese Affairs Commissioner Zhou Xianmeng persuaded them, and they had a chance to learn more about the organization, that they realized its significance. The association had been involved in numerous charitable endeavors and diplomatic activities, and its membership included many successful businesswomen.
Considering that Chicago was the third largest city in the United States, and many smaller cities had already established their own chapters, it seemed odd that Chicago didn’t have one. Moved by this realization, Jade Wu boldly accepted the challenge. With the recommendation of Chen Yongfeng, the director of the Chinese Cultural Center at that time, she received an invitation from Guo Shifengzhu, the then president of the association, to establish the 45th chapter of the World Chinese Business and Professional Women’s Association.
Her initiative was met with enthusiastic support. Friends from Chicago joined one after another, and the chapter quickly grew to 35 members. They then began organizing a variety of exciting activities.

The Global Federation of Chinese Business Women of Chicago Chapter held a grand inauguration ceremony on March 9th in the morning at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in the western suburbs of Chicago. President Guo Shifengzhu presented the seal, and the wife of Overseas Chinese Affairs Commissioner Wu Yingyi witnessed this historic moment together.
Permanent Honorary President Ko Du Ruqin, Vice Presidents Chen Shangchun and Li Shuying, as well as members from all over the world, including Taiwan and various parts of the United States, also came to congratulate them, celebrating the Chicago Chapter becoming the 45th chapter of the association.
The ceremony was hosted by Su Qiwen, Secretary-General of the Chicago Chapter. First, they sang The Global Federation of Chinese Business Women anthem and watched a promotional video showcasing the association’s prosperous development in recent years.
